Satin ribbons
Satin ribbons can be carefully ironed on level 2. If the ends are sealed, the ribbons can be washed by hand at 30 degrees. If the ribbon has been sewn onto fabric, it can be machine washed at up to 60 degrees.
Velvet ribbons
Velvet ribbons can be carefully ironed from the reverse side on level 2 without applying too much pressure. The fibres on the velvet side will also stand up again. Dust on the velvet side can simply be removed with a roll of clothing adhesive. Once the ends have been sealed, the ribbons can be washed by hand at 30 degrees. If the ribbon is sewn in, it can be machine washed at up to 60 degrees.
Sealing the ends
To seal satin or velvet ribbons, you will need very good or new scissors and a lighter. Grasp the end of the ribbon and point the cut edge upwards. Run the flame of a lighter very briefly along the cut edge. It is better to repeat this a few times than to hold it too long and risk a black edge. It is sealed when you can feel a fine edge between your fingers.
